A priority for all students at Rockhampton North Special School is for each student to have a fluent and functional communication system. The communication APP Proloquo2go is our primary high tech AAC tool.

All students at Rockhampton North Special School sign in each day. Some students use the Interactive White Board while other use a sign in book.

Daily message

Daily message

All classrooms start the day with a daily message on the whiteboard. The challenge for some of our classes is to use their knowledge to determine where any grammar and punctuation mistakes are and correct them.

Rockhampton North Special School is operated by Education Queensland and is part of the Central Queensland Region. Our school provides educational programs for students whose special learning needs require intensive support through alternative learning programs and significant adjustments in planning, assessment and reporting.

Generally all students attending programs will have their educational adjustments identified through the Educational Adjustment Process (EAP). All enrolments must be authorised by Queensland Regional Office.

Students in senior secondary grow vegetables and prepare food in the school kitchen as part of their school based work experience.

All staff have an ipad mini with Proloquo2go. This provides the opportunity for our students to communicate needs and wants and to make social comments with a variety of adults across the school.
