2023 - SEMESTER 2 SNAPSHOT
Visual Art
Welcome to Semester Two Visual Art. This semester we will be exploring how artists use colour, shape and pattern to make environmental sculpture. Prep and Lower Primary are working with natural materials to make and explore each other's land art, our older classes are beginning the semester by investigating how artists have used colour, shape and pattern to make a sculpture that explores sustainability. Once we are confident in our understanding, students in year 4 5 and 6 will be making a mosaic, students in year 7 and 8 will use natural materials to make an environmental sculpture. Students in year 9 and 10 and senior will be making a sculpture from recycled materials. If you have any recycled materials (bottle lids, can rings, plastics etc) that we might use, could you please drop off to the school.
Drama
In Semester Two Drama, our focus is on how we can use drama to help people to care for the Earth. We will be exploring some elements of drama, such as role, place and situation. We will use these as we prepare and perform group drama works. The emphasis for our Lower Primary classes is on place. If our drama is set in a beautiful place on the Earth, then people might be inspired to care for it more thoughtfully. Our Upper Primary classes are focussing more on situation by using storylines that explicitly remind us of the need to care for the Earth. Junior Secondary students are concentrating on place, exploring environmentally friendly ways to create shared dramatic worlds for their presentations. In Middle Secondary classes, our attention will be on situation as we alter the plots of familiar stories due to environmental factors. All of our year levels will explore some aspects of role. Running through all our lessons will be the overarching purpose of our Drama, that ever important message that we want to convey to our audience – CARE FOR OUR EARTH!
