Shared readingStudents will learn to listen to, read, and view a range of di​fferent texts, while discussing their likes and dislikes.  They will explore different types of texts, for examples, poems, chants, songs and nursery rhymes.  

Word Work:​ :  Due to the varying levels of abilities, skills and knowledge of our students. We will focus on reading and spelling core words and topic specific words using our new Phonics Pr​ogram.  Students will learn letter sounds through fun hands on activities.  We will also use a range of different AAC, such as Prologuo2Go, picture cards and letter cards to support the students.


Writing:​ Students will practice independent writing using their preferred method to create a variety of different poems “About Ourselves”
Maths​Addition and Subtraction: Using simple strategies

Multiplication and Division: Skip counting and sharing stories

Shape: 2D and 3D shapes​

Location: Everyday positional language (e.g.: up, down, over, under) and following directions e.g.: 2steps left, 3 steps back, half turn)

​Positive Behaviour for Learning

​​​PBL’ is our school’s positive behaviour program. Students are learning all of the school expectations and exactly what that means for them through explicit instruction and lessons each week. Students will develop their resilience and social-emotional learning through the following Core Values: Care, Courage and Cooperate. They will focus on learning some regulation strategies with a core focus on Interception skills.
Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS)

S​pecial Places: Respond to questions about their own past and places they belong to; observe the familiar features of places and represent these features and their location on pictorial maps and models; relate stories about their past and share and compare observations about familiar places.

​Health and Physical Education (HPE)

Describe how their body responds to movement; Use personal and social skills when working with others in a range of activities.​
​Project Based Learning


Poetry:  This semester we are working on a project based on our identity.  We will be learning about different types of poems. Throughout the semester the students will be exploring different types of poems and their identity.  They will use what they learn to create their own Poetry Book all about themselves.​
